Affiliates Program Abuse Reporting
Because it's not possible to completely prevent affiliate fraud through technological means, we must turn to our members to report instances of abuse. If you have reason to believe that a certain member or organization is taking advantage of the system, please leave a comment on this post with as much information as possible about the member and the fraud. The SFx team will review comments to this post on a regular basis and investigate each case. Please understand that, to keep this page manageable, we will delete comments over time once the case in question has been closed.
Note: The absence of a Firefox link on a member's website is not a surefire indicator of fraud. Remember that affiliate links can be distributed through many other means, such as instant messaging profiles, e-mail signatures and third-party forums. A member is not required to have a Firefox button on the website that he or she lists in his SpreadFirefox account settings.
If the sfx team determines that a member or group of members has abused the affiliate system, some or all of the following actions may be taken to preserve the integrity of the system and level the playing field for all members:
- the points accumulated through the fraud will be erased from the member's record; or
- all points accumulated will be erased from the member's record; or
- the member's account will be shut down.
We appreciate your assistance in helping us enforce these guidelines, and welcome suggestions or criticisms as comments to this post.
