The event was a great success and would get permission to install Firefox to other computer labs soon :) Would also like to know how to get Summer Internship @ Firefox. hello everyone....many open club events are being held by myself and my fellow campus reps in our college(M.V.S.R ENGG COLLEGE)...firstly we have made every computer of our college powered by mozilla ff3. Later we had many open club semianars in our campus...one of them was a great seminar given by "www.swecha.org"(Swecha is the first organization to translate and make available linux in Telugu language and launched it at recent TANA international conference.) member bhuvan krishna on OPEN sourcing..

the other one was the seminar held on ethical hacking and open sourcing by Mr.Ankit fadia, world's renovated hacker....he was very much impressed with the active participation of the campus reps and the other students of our campus...the campus has got a lot of mozilla and open sourcing buzz going on....

Seminar on Mozilla FireFox By Dev Datta and Aashish:

This seminar was more like an interactive session which covered Mozilla history, facts, features,Definition & working of browser and general Quiz..(members of the seminar were given many interactive prizes)

As part of the campaigning, an SMS was sent to 2500Plus members of the campus that include students and staff members. The message was sent on 18 & 19 feb.
these are some of the pictures that i have uploaded( url link)

Hello I am Vishnu from India, campus rep for Vellore Institute of Technology. All the events organized by me are on my blog: Planning to do more in coming months :) thanks for all the help and supports :)

Starting the fall semester back on september 2008 I sign up for being a Mozilla Campus Representative. I sign because I wanted to be part of this huge and exciting community. Inmediatly I post a link on my web site to spreadfirefox.com. I wasn`t expecting anything "physical" from Mozilla Foundation, mainly because I´m in Mexico City. It was a huge surprise when I came back home and found they sent me a swag pack. The first thing I though was a efficient way to give away all the stuff I received. On the next week we were giving away all the gifts to people that show us they computer with firefox installed. Those who had 2 or 3 extensions installed and show heavy use of firefox got the best gifts. It was amazing! On the following weeks people keep installing firefox, not for the gifts but because the word in mouth spread all over the campus. People keep saying me that firefox is great and they have even installed on they grandparents computer! Because a lot of people were talking about firefox on campus it was very easy to get firefox installed in all the computers the school have. Firefox-mania will be in the campus forever! Being a campus representative has been an amazing experience, you are not only helping the web to be a more open place, but also you are helping people to do their job faster and better by giving them an amazing tool in their hands. I can´t wait to have more responsabilities in this program and to spread firefox all around the web. Thank you guys! Here are some pics I took: http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/6617/001bqk.jpg - Mauricio

My college organized an annual techno-managment event, i was one of the organizers. As i being the mozilla campus rep of my college i opened up a mozilla help desk at the event help desk so as to promote it and get more and more participants from all over india know and start believing in mozilla's open source projects.I had recieved a swag pack before the start of the event so in order to promote it more, i organized few quizes and games to give away the winners one of the items. The whole of campus was aware of the fact that some mozilla thing is going on in our campus, out of curiosity they came to me asking queries about mozilla. Now after the event's competion many still ask what are the benefits of mozilla over ie or safari etc. I am planning to organize a seminar for the people who are intersted in my campus in next few days.I will post the details later through this blog only. But in my part of world peple have started recognizing mozilla and its benefits gradually that is for sure.More and more people are interested in promoting mozilla with me.thanks

Hey everyone, I am here to just tell you guys about what I'm up to.
As some of you may know, I recently transferred from the University of South Carolina to a smaller school up here in Pennsylvania, Alvernia University. It's a small, catholic based school that is the home to the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters. Last fall, there were a few events and various things technology based (ie: everyone just talking about computers for hours upon hours). I have yet to run into anything quite like that this semester, but I have spread Firefox in different ways to feel as though I am (though a minor part of) spreading Firefox. When I got my swag box, it was quite amazing. I had tried to be a student rep for many things, but due to family issues and what have you. I came up here mainly for the opportunities (living where I did, though Columbia and my school were forty minutes away, Atlanta was the closest major city- six hours away), I mean, being thirty minutes outside of Philly is far, far different! Now, onto to main attraction: my Firefox stories. As I said, I got my box and it had two shirts, some wristbands, stickers, pins, and various other things. I had no idea where to start. During my first week I decided to wear my YETIS shirt from Firefox. Though I was wearing a coat, I got a lot of people saying they liked my shirt, asking what it meant (even professors), and various other things. One professor, after telling him about Firefox, demanded I come to his office and install it since he claimed (in his words) that IE was a piece of...well, you know.
Whenever I wear that particular shirt, I always get nice comments on it. I am not sure if it is the yeti itself being "cute" or the words on the back (whenever I am not wearing a coat), but people always want to come up and talk to me. I have made a close network of friends who have helped me in giving out stickers, pins, and whatever else. We have developed this "game" that when we walk in the lobby and see someone using Firefox, we give them a wristband or something else. It's not much, and who knows if the people really want them, but it's always met with a hearty thank you and a nice conversation. Also, whenever we find a computer that doesn't have Firefox, we install in (I lost count on quite how many). I almost always keep a wristband on me since I have become somewhat known as the "computer guy" to the older students and even a few nuns. Usually I give out wristbands to people who I talk to about Firefox, just as a nice gesture. I have seen a few worn around school, too, which always makes me quite happy.
Overall, I can happily say that Firefox has not only helped me transition, but it's brightened my day quite a few times due to this opportunity. I don't have my own digital camera, so I cannot really get pictures and the events are sometimes thrown out of whack due to snow and what have you. But I am grateful for the opportunity and though I may not have formed a club or something, I feel as though I am spreading the word and promoting to the best of my abilities.
PS: Every student rep should get a yeti shirt, they're babe magnets.
PSS: I am saving the party hats for an event, if there isn't one this semester, I'll just give them all to the nuns, haha.

This was a weird idea from the get-go. It should have never worked! Hundreds of kids and chaperons learned about Firefox, open source, and what it means to contribute - through art.

Date:19/02/2009;M.V.S.R. Engg college. The 'open club went further ahead.....,This time it was bhuvan krishna member of www.swecha.org (free software foundation, india) Swecha is the first organization to translate and make available linux in Telugu language and launched it at recent TANA international conference. Bhuvan krishna was here as part of the open club event to give his valuable seminar on Freedoms of software, applications, development and many other aspects related to Software. He says "you need not be a genius to be in localizing..even a one word translation by you contributes a lot.." There were much more topics covered by him in Depth which are related to computer science (sorry, i understand only few..) also He presented an animated video Document which was purely made of software program....!! The event was celebrated the mozilla way...with mozilla back drop and audience wearing FF3 batches..:) ***** Seminar on Mozilla FireFox By Dev Datta and Aashish: This seminar was more like an interactive session which covered Mozilla history, facts, features,Definition & working of browser and general Quiz..!! All the members present for the seminar were given Mozilla swag/goodies which include wrist bands, pens, party caps,stickers,batches....... and Ubuntu cd's as part of the quiz..!!! As part of the campaigning, an SMS was sent to 2500Plus members of the campus that include students and staff members. The message was sent on 18 & 19 feb.The SMS included events and venue of the event followed with a link to www.spreadfirefox.com , Thank you. *****

Hola fellow campus reps! Just done with a spread firefox campaign at my college... Gave a presentation, took a lot of pictures and videos. Not to forget, the mozilla goodies that I distributed brought smiles on many faces. Through the presentation I was able to get the people to understand the importance of Open source software and the mozilla project. It was a lot of fun...especially the video survey....people just cudnt stop talkin bout the features of firefox.
Would love to hear from more reps about their events and would be glad to join you for the event in case its yet to be conducted. -Sireesh

Hey sorry dude have been busy for a while.
Newaz, you could start by getting posters printed and placing them at key places. Set a table or a Stall at a key location so as to get the attention of the people. You could try giving away Cd's of Firefox and other open source software.
The presentation consisted of information on mozilla and open source software.
Hope you have a great event.

I felt it was pretty successful because a lot of people filled out the survey. I will post the results of the survey in the next day or two.

We are currently working hard on getting everything ready for the open day of the International Game Architecture and Design course at the International University, NHTV in Breda (the Netherlands). For this we are installing Firefox on 50-100 computers. Want to know what else we are doing or you want to help us out??  hello every one, I conducted an Awareness program about Firefox in our college named Perceptions vs Facts on oct 7th 2008 , What i primarily did was 1, conducted a survey among students in college (which browser they use). Then gave them the stuffs mozilla gave ,in my survey i found out of 250 students i surveyed many was not aware of importance of a secure browser, they just kept using Ie as they are used in that. what i primarily did was i, explained them the primary advantage of firefox gave them the link http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/features/,,many of them understood the importance and features that Firefox provide.any way most them were not concerned about security ,but addons and easy customization were what they got interested in, An comparison was also conducted using Ie And FF

At University of Utah Math Tutoring Center Computer Lab where I work now.
WE have 5 Macs and 30 LINUX machines and today finally finish install Firefox in all machines.
Also Computer administrate agree to install to all new PC which Math departments buy.

Hi Everyone!!!! We have celebrated the Software Freedom Day 08 here in Bahía Blanca, Argentina on September 21st, and it was awesome. We decided to do a different event this time, focussing towards non-techies, trying to told people how great Free Sofware is and how to use it in their benefit, and also speaking about freedom (because that is all about, of course!). In Argentina we are used to celebrate the arrival of Spring season (here it is the warmer season), so almost everyone in my city goes to the beach. So..., we went to the beach too!!!! Despite that the package didn't arrive on time for the event, we could manage without it and explained the benefits of using FLOSS, and particulary Firefox of course!! A good response was that almost everyone recognized my firefox pin (i have one of those from last JRSL08 in Buenos Aires). Please, see for yourselves!: http://gallery.bblug.usla.org.ar/v/sfd2008/ Also, there is some more information of the event in our wiki: http://wiki.bblug.usla.org.ar/doku.php?id=bblug:sfd2008

I also requested a swag pack for SFD at Clarkson Univeristy, but it didn't arrive on time. Due to that (and a variety of other issues), things didn't go quite as planned, but a variety of members of the Clarkson Open Source Institute got together and celebrated free software. Regrettably we didn't take any pictures, but a camera is on the list for our next event!

I started doing this way before I decided to join...like instaling mozila on all the pcs in my hy school and collage...publicity...a lot of stuff...Im very happy to be here...I love firefox and Ill spread it everywhere!
