Welcome to the Spread Firefox/Mozilla ECard Project. This project is for all people. Young, old. Big, small. Geeky, Uber Geeky.
It is for all who want to help spread the word about Mozilla without having to spend lots of money on cards while still getting a smile on someone else's face.
History
Well if you can class it as history here it is. This project started not too long ago during a Community Marketing Call and was the good idea of creating a fun and easy way to send an ecard to people for Valentine's Day. With a little work from FuzzyFox, Jay, Tanmay, Alix and Mary this became a reality and it was decided that a second Ecard should be created. This time for Holi. And this is where were are now. In the process of creating the Holi Ecard.
Goals
We have a few, simple goals that we would like to achieve with this project.
Create an Ecard by the community for the community for selected events world wide.
Put a smile on the face of those who receive these Ecards.
Continually better ourselves with the creation of better looking, sleeker Ecards and create a UI that makes creating the Ecard a walk in the park.
Get Involved
We want you to get involved with this project and dig your teeth in where you want to, whether it be coding parts of the system, coming up with the Ecard content, designs for Ecards, designs for the UIs, submitting dates/events for the Ecards, or just generally poke your nose in and correct mistakes. You can even do the whole lot and help with all of it. All help is wanted and appreciated, be it a little or a lot of help.
I am the lead developer of the Ecard system and the owner of Brinkhurst Design. I was the one to blame for the database issues with the first Ecard we produced and am the one to turn to for help with the code or for issues related to the general UI and email templates.
This Easter the Ecards Project still plans on creating an Ecard however our lead developer (FuzzyFox) will be taking a step back due to a massive work load at college and other projects which he cannot avoid.
We will shortly be releasing the source for the current Holi Ecard and hope that you will help easy the burden of this next incarnation of the Ecard for Easter.
Update:We're still plugging away on Affiliates -- this is a super important program so we're going to take the extra time to work it out. If you want a redesign fix you can check out the updated design here. We'll update you soon. Thanks for all of your patience!
As the deadline for the Holi Ecard approaches, and there seemingly not being an ecard to show (at this exact moment), people must be thinking that we had forgoten to actually create the thing.
I had a short conversation with jay on ecard serving dual purposes.
ok well the juice of the talk that i had with jay is as follows
-->Using the holi ecard as a publishing material as well ,apart from just the greeting card.
-->So i suggested jay to incorporate/attach the "top 10 reasons to switch to firefox" with the greeting mail that would be sent to the people.
