3 Years Later
It was 3 years ago that I joined Spread Firefox. I came across it through the Getting Involved link that was in the default bookmarks. I wasn't even sure yet what Spread Firefox was all about, I just remember that it was a place that other fans of Firefox would congregate to and share their excitement and energy that they had for Firefox as I did.
I remember waiting so patiently to register my first point. I waited days and just like you did at one time or another, I clicked on my own affiliate link to test it, and there was my 1st point. Yes I cheated and I'm sorry, it won't happen again. Back then I had no visitors coming to the newly created MouseRunner.com so points were few and far between. Today thanks to the frequency and amount of visits from IE users, I'm averaging 300 points per week and so I'm at about 21,000 points. I love points. The whole concept is fun and challenging. I used to have a running competition with Otto de Voogd (cheap plug) SFx member where we would hover around the same spot points wise and then the race in the Top 250 was fun. But now Otto has left me far behind with his 62,480 points and his #12 spot and my #20. :(
So why have I stayed so long? Simple, the people here are great. They are genuine, dedicated, and hard working people and we all have similar goals that we're passionate about.
I know that there's been a few growing pains for the new SFx but it will soon and once again be an exciting place to be and to be a part of. But we can't just sit back, we have to promote SFx to get more members to join. We have some awesome groups going and now we need to fill them up. It's like we've planned for a party and we're just waiting for the guests, but we have to invite the guests so promote SFx, promote your group, get people here to join us to help out in promoting our primary cause Firefox. The excitement is building for Firefox 3 and this is the best place to be because this site is the driving force of Firefox's success.

Congratulations Ken, and thanks for mentioning me!
Right now I have been a member for exactly 3 years and 18 hours. I don't quite remember how I came to find SFx at the time, I think I had already visited the site before I joined and I already had a Firefox button on my homepage. At the time I was traveling in Asia and joined so that I could get an affiliate link and count the number of times someone clicked on it, I only became active on SFx after my travels.
I can't believe time passed so quickly! It's kind of funny how we joined at nearly the exact same time and got to know each other and help each other with our mutual Firefox projects, and the friendly competition was always fun, I still hope you'll catch up with me so that we can continue ;-)
But you still win in an other field, you are the number 1 Firefox fan! Thanks to your Firefox projects, like AccessFirefox, your contributions of Firefox banners and graphics and all the help you provide here at SFx.
I hope the day will come that we will meet in real life, and share a few drinks...
