Firefox Market Share over 30%
The following text is a copy of: Firefox Market Share over 30%.
I publish monthly statistics for my website. This includes an overview of browser usage, operating system usage and most popular search engines. February's report is based on the analysis of 1.2 million pageviews. The data is for a specific website, so the exact numbers may not be representative of overall usage on the Internet. However two noticeable trends emerge from my statistics and I would expect other sites to notice similar trends:
- In the browser market, Firefox has shown strong growth over the past few months and in February broke through the 30% barrier on my site.
- In the operating system market the Mac has started to make steady inroads, increasing it's market share to 7.7% in February. The Vista effect?
It's encouraging that Firefox is continuing to gain market share, 30% is a lot, considering that most people must decide to download and install it. It's thrilling that the upward trend continues. On the operating system market, I would have liked to see Linux gain some market share, it fluctuates around 1% and doesn't seem to have increased, but at least the Windows monopoly is under attack, which in itself is a good thing, as there needs to be more competition on that market.
