We want to collate and pass out information on why the open source format is a very cool one for developing new software, whether online or for the desktop. We also hope to deal with topics relating to what is and is not allowed under various open source licenses.

Should Open Source Mean Free

So, open source has become synonymous with free but is that a legal reality? No. Open source projects can charge for their services. When using the most popular open source license, the GNU/GPL license(s) you can still sell your work. Nonetheless, the work should not be encoded and future authors cannot encrypt their updates to the code.
