Spreadfirefox.com update: Temporarily turning off email notifications

Dear SpreadFirefox member,

As you probably know, some spreadfirefox groups have been getting a lot of duplicate (or more!) postings. We have tracked down the issue and determined that this is happening in groups that have large number of people requesting email notifications. It has been a difficult problem but we have identified the issue and are working on a fix.

In the meantime, we are going to turn off email notifications of group activity. We will post again here when we turn it back on. Note that all the other email notifications (ex: when you have a private message) will remain on.

How can you continue to track group activity without email notifications? There are several ways:

• Visit the tracker page to see the latest posts on spreadfirefox (this will show you all of the activity on spreadfirefox): http://www.spreadfirefox.com/tracker
• Use your favorite RSS feed reader to keep track of specific activity: every group has its own RSS feed (check out the "Group notification" at the bottom right of the group's home page to get the specific feeds)
• Visit your groups' main pages (the list of groups you are subscribed to is available here: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/og/my )

We very much apologize for the inconvenience this is causing. However, the number of complaints regarding duplicate posts is high enough that we need to take this drastic measure to make sure everyone's experience at spreadfirefox remains positive.
