A Glimpse in to an "Enterprise" Intranet

Some companies embrace Firefox and are not foolish enough to let themselves get locked in to Microsoft's way of doing things.

But companies that use Microsoft technology for things like web based e-mail or portals can often find that that Firefox is getting a second rate treatment.

The document located here http://toastytech.com/good/bad.html gives a description of a few of these applications that may be found on corporate intranets and can cause potential problems for Firefox usage.

In short:

  • Remember to promote the usage of Firefox on Intranets
  • Encourage Microsoft to update their web applications to function better with Firefox.

firefox, corporate use and deployment

I`m currently rewriting the article

http://wiki.mozilla.org/Deployment:Deploying_Firefox

trying to go bottom-up from historic and current situation, requirements resulting from corporate usage up to  possible features of an hypothetical 'firefox corporate toolkit'  to manage firefox on a corporate network.

Focus is to provide information for users evaluating how firefix can be used and managed and to backup a positive decision towards a switch.

Every feedback/help is welcome.

regards,

dwe
