An official date for Download Day: June 17th

Hi all:  We now have a date for the launch of Firefox 3 and Download Day.  Download Day will start around 1 or 2 p.m. PDT on June 17th and wrap up 24 hours later.  Please see Mike Beltzner's post for more details.

Conversion to UTC

Mary said in her initial post: "Download Day will start around 1 or 2 p.m. PDT on June 17th"

This translates into:

20:00 or 21:00 UTC (on a 24h clock)

and

8:00 or 9:00 P.M. UTC (on a 12h clock)

For further conversions, check out timeanddate.com

E.g.: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converted.html?month=6&day=17&year...

Hope this helps.

PDT ?!

Are you serious? I thought Firefox was not centered at any country... It's plain stupid to give any international date/time in Pacific Daylight Time. I had to look up the offset on Wikipedia, but I can already see the surprise on half world's faces when they go to the download page just to see that "Download Day hasn't started yet", even though it's already 14.30. Do you seriously think people from Central Asia will bother calculating the time offsets? I doubt so. UTC is the standard. Everyone (OK, most of the people do) knows the offset of their time zone from UTC.

I suppose that if 2pm + 24

I suppose that if 2pm + 24 hours has more downloads than 1pm + 24 hours, that will be the record right?

1 or 2 pm?

Please could you confirm at what time the Download Day will start officially? 1 or 2 pm PDT? (Even better if you tell it in UTC.)

Thanx!

Please give us UTC time!

Hear hear!
