Memory Hog?
I have heard some people say that Firefox 3 really improves on the amount of memory that Firefox uses although for me this isn't the case. As I type this message Firefox is using about 195,000K of memory and has at times exceeded the 200,000K mark. If it helps I have 12 addons installed although these shouldn't make a difference because these are the same addons that I used in Firefox 2 and its memory usage was always around 50,000K.
Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I have 0, as is ZERO add-ons
I have 0, as is ZERO add-ons for Firefox. Right this moment Firefox is using 125,000k of memory (only this webpage open), this same page under IE uses only 62,000k. Heck my homepage (google) uses 104,000k of memory. CPU usage is pretty low, unless of course Firefox has to play a sound while Nero is playing music, then Firefox uses almost 200,000k of memory and 100% of CPU. Try a page with Flash animation, yeah I rather just avoid those.
But considering Firefox users have been complaining about memory usage for a long time and no update has ever rectified the problem, I can't see it getting any better. It's come down to either deal with the memory hog, or move on to something less resource intensive.
So in the words of Bill Goldberg, "Who's NEXT?"
firefox 3 works fine, not too much memory or CPU Power need
I have opened 56 websites in tabs, installed 24 active addons, firefox 3 uses roundabout 360,000k of my 3,000,000k RAM memory and roundabout 4% of CPU Power. Don't know why others have problems with this, if U think firefox 3 uses too much of your memory, than U have to install more memory, memory is much cheaper than ever. If U think firefox 3 uses too much of your CPU Power than your CPU seems too slow or its because you have not enough memory, the CPU hav e to swap all the time in your little memory.
Add-ons
The more add-ons you have, and depending on what addons you have the more memory firefox will use. Its just like having a car and adding more to the car. It gets heavier and slower and uses more petrol.
Yep
And somehow, I don't know how, but Fx used 50% of my 1.6 Ghz Dual Core's CPU power. That is a lot, a whole lot. And I don't know why it was exacly 50%, maybe Windows stopped it from using more, even after I changed the priority to Realtime to see how far it would go. It's fine now. I hope it doesn't happen again.
