Firefox Gift Certificates - Print them, email them

Firefox gift certificate

I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't appreciate a gift that they could use to watch and download videos, stay in touch with friends, be updated on the latest news, share and view photos, get more free gifts that makes their gift even better and do it all in a way that is fun, safe, and free. So this holiday season, give the gift of Firefox.

Firefox gift certificate

Email or print out one of these gift certificates and give it to a friend, colleague, or family member.
It's the gift that surely keeps on giving and one that won't be tossed in the back of a closet or be regifted.

Now you may say, "Ken, everyone that I know already uses Firefox" and I'll respond by saying "That's great! But I bet that they don't all use Thunderbird". So send them a Thunderbird gift certificate and tell them the advantages of using Thunderbird such as its ability to send and receive email from multiple email accounts all in one place. And that it has unsurpassed security features that helps to block viruses, email scams, and spam. And don't forget to mention the option to get free add-ons for Thunderbird including some of the same ones that you use and enjoy in Firefox.

Giving and Sending Options

1) Email:
Download the gift certificates Email Pack
Extract the files
Select a gift certificate and attach it it to an email with a link to www.Mozilla.com or use your SFx affiliate URL. I suggest using mozilla.com if you do not use your affiliate URL because that is what is printed on the gift certificates.

For Thunderbird gift certificates, use www.GetThunderbird.com (printed on certificates) or use your Spread Thunderbird affiliate URL.

2) Print Out:
Download the gift Certificates Printable Pack
Extract the files
Choose a gift certificate and desired format. Either PDF or PNG.
For all OS users, I don't open PDFs in Firefox regardless of what extensions may be available to do so, I open them in Acrobat but I did test opening and printing the gift certificates in Firefox and I had no problems so Firefox users of all OSs shouldn't either.

For users of OSs without Acrobat, if you don't already have a way to import PDFs, there's a PDF import extension available for OpenOffice.org that works just fine. I've confirmed that after spending most of my day installing OOo 3 which rocks by the way. You'll be able to just double click on the extension once you download it and it will be installed into OOo then you can open up and print out the gift certificate of your choosing.
Sun PDF Import Extension

Your other option for printing is to use one of the PNGs (they're big, 2250px by 1500px) in the pack and open it with a graphics program or any program capable of opening and printing graphics. That is something that most people have regardless of their OS. If by chance that you don't, I was able to open and print the gift certificates in XnView a really good free and cross platform graphics program.

Customizing the gift certificates

Whether you download the printable gift certificates pack or the email one, there are 2 templates for you to customize.
One has a To and From text field in place of the "Date of issuance" where you can personalize your gift certificate, and the other one provides 3 lines for you to add whatever text that you'd like (in your language for example) in place of the 4 lines of text as seen on the other gift certificates.
Just open one of them up in any graphics program and add your text. Be sure to save the gift certificate''s original size, format, and resolution to avoid loss in quality and distortion.

Enjoy and remember, these are not restricted to the current holiday season. You can use these year round. I'll be creating more with various backgrounds in the future.

Happy Holidays!

This is sweet! Thanks for putting these together Ken. We should talk more about some of these ideas of yours and get them into our official marketing goals for 2009.

veryy nice post

know that's the objective but what can we do specifically to get them to do it? Firefox sells itself once people fire it up. Everyone falls in love with it once they try it, so what hook or gimmick can we come up with that will make people want to click on the download button?

I want to be interacting with direct contact so that i can strengthen the friendship.

Thanks for the kind words. It's quite a challenge coming up with new and unique ideas to promote Firefox. Although the blanket marketing scheme for Firefox has been obviously effective, I'd personally like to see very focused efforts on getting people to click that download button.

You know, I've always found it very funny (and frustrating) that we have to work so hard to get people to use something that is absolutely free, that will improve their whole Internet experience, and something that they'll love to use. It's pretty whacked when you think about it.

Very cool. Thanks.
