MozillaMeetups

Contact: Carsten Book "Tomcat"
The Mozilla Community and Mozilla Employees are spread over the world. The Idea of this Meetups is to connect Mozilla Community Members in local areas.

This meetups are open for everyone - for people who are interested to contribute to Mozilla (Hack/Test/Spread the word/etc) and also is open to people who have questions about Mozilla.

We will try out this meetups in Munich/Germany and one in Summer in Berlin/Germany but everyone can feel free to organize in your Area.

This meetups should be very informal, a get together with Community Members and anyone interested in Mozilla.

Create a Facebook Group, Forum Topic, ask people to sign up .Choose a Date/Time and location of your choice like a restaurant, reserve a table and just do it.

We hope that this Meetups help to find new Community Members, to get people involved into Mozilla Projects and to help answer questions to people that are interested how Mozilla "works"

Question ? You need help ? Just drop a mail !

As mentioned these Meetups can be very informal. A lot of other OpenSource Projects already do these meetups.
These meetups should be every 1-2 months, depending on your time.
So what does a typical meetup look like:

  • They can happening during the week, as example on Wednesday
  • The Location is a restaurant or other location where you can put tables togehter
  • Starting as example a 6pm and plan to be there 3-4 hours
  • People can join/leave whenever they want and everyone pay his own bill
  • As this meetups happen in restaurants, people can eat&drink during the meetup
  • People chat on the table about various topics, new features, how to get involved, how to start with Mozilla....there is no agenda, everyone can chat on the topic they want

"Requirements"
Some example steps that this Meetups Require:

  • Blogging/Tweeting/Facebook/Xing/Meetup.com Announcements etc
  • Collecting Feedback, if and how many people would be interested
  • Set a Date and ask people to sign up ( to get a number of People, that makes it easier to choose a location)
  • After getting a number of people, like sign up 3 weeks ahead, reserve a table at a club/location/restaurant
  • Do it :) and build more relationship to the community

You can do this events every 1-2 months - depending on your time, but thats completly up to you ! Also this events normally build up over time, so don't worry if only a few people sign up for the first meetup :)
