Let's Get Started

Dealing with blogs and the press requires a delicate balance. We must be prepared to respond to news stories quickly to be effective, but never at the expense of common courtesy and thoughtfulness in our responses. So, there are several ways you can participate, depending on how deeply you want to get involved.

The first step for this project is to build a team of volunteers to keep an eye on all that's said about Mozilla and to report stories that need some kind of response. If you'd like to participate simply by alerting the Mozilla team when something shows up on the Web requiring a response, this is the place for you. Participating is super-easy. Just add fortherecord@mozilla.org to your email addressbook and forward blog posts or articles that fall into any of the three categories above to the For The Record List with a short description of what you think needs addressing.

The second goal of FTR is to build the team of people who will respond to the most important issues and over time develop a set of materials that help everyone in the Mozilla community to better tell the Mozilla story and respond effectively when needed. If you'd like to be a part of this team, designing and building the library of coverage, distilling issues into FAQs and their responses, and maybe even becoming an official Mozilla spokesperson, you can sign up here.

And if you're not sure yet, and want to just follow along, you can stay tuned to this Spread Firefox program for regular updates.

With Firefox 3 on the horizon and excting new efforts around mobile, online services, and more, there's never been a better time to be a part of the action.
