E-fortress is a unique international festival in Serbia that brings together eminent experts and public figures from the fields of economy, IT technology, science, culture and art.
E-FORTRESS is a project of ambitious young people who want to offer their contribution to the development of the Internet in Serbia pervading the economy, culture, technology and telecommunications.
Three agencies from Nis, which base its business on the Internet, initiated the project in  2008  E-fortress in order to draw attention to the general public on the Internet phenomenon. One of the objectives of this project is to promote beautiful space of the fortress of Nis. The project will be realized in the trenches of the fortress towers, attractive and unused park with the aim of the revitalization of this cultural-historical space.
E-09 will be held at the fortress from the 3rd till 5th of September 2009. This year's festival will have presentations, lectures, seminars and workshops. In addition to the official program, the accompanying activities will have performances, exhibitions, sports competitions and parties.

On 5000 square meters in the trenches of the fortress of Nis will be held at the same time:
• Presentations and lectures of experts in the field of media on the Internet in the E-Media program,
• multimedia workshops, held in the tents, about  a BLOG, open source software, film and TV production.
• One-day seminar on the efficiency of the economy for open source products on the Internet, e-government and e-signature.
• Presentation on recycling e-waste and renewable energy sources as a potential sustainable development
• in the accompanying program will be the largest gathering of Facebook users in one  place on the multimedia "FB all day party",
• painting and design workshops with exhibitions.
• Sports competition: volleyball on the sand, speedminton and blackminton.
The films of the international film festival FreeNetWorld will be shown during all three days in the evening hours. New musical achievements in the field of electronic music will be presented to thousands of young people on the party and popular concerts.

E-FORTRESS 09 will have over 50 speakers, performers and IT experts, and over 15 000 people will visit this event during three days.
The first international festival under the name E-FORTRESS has attracted great media and professional attention. Held in an unusual place in the trenches of the fortress of Nis in the open air, this festival has hosted prominent professionals from the IT world.
In three days of events held many presentations of companies, software licenses and the platform, with the base on the internet. In addition to lectures and presentations, in the trenches were held exhibitions of students of architectural faculty, exhibition of photographers, and had its open air cinema during those three days. At the international film festival FreeNetWorld were films from all over the world that have arrived in the competition. Festival on the occasion of 10 years of existence of Mozilla and release of Firefox 3 web browser organized the official Mozilla organization party, the first in Serbia. Because of its originality and popularity, which carries the internet, E-Fortress in 2008 visited over 7 000 people. Festival is in many media declared as the most inventive and most original event in Serbia in 2008.
Internet, as the best invention on the planet, in only several years has made all people equal and free and has improved the mankind. Phenomenon that is spreading at great speed in all pores of society will soon change our lives. Our goal is to point out and get the appearance of the revolution of internet closer to the general public and prepare the day when the Internet will be an integral part of our everyday life.
