non compliant sites really frost me
Nothing frosts me more than seeing “best viewed with IE 6.0 or IE required to view this site”, anything which inhibits the free exchange of knowledge is in this age, akin to blasphemy.
Now, on the webmeisters part, requiring your potential clients to install software with serious security issues says a lot about how one does business and quite frankly, demonstrates all the cerebral propensity of a lobotomized amoeba.
I do quite a bit of warranty work for a lot of EMI manufacturers, six I will no longer do business with just because they refuse to observe W3C standards, you should have seen the letters I wrote to their marketing people.
I have generally found that organizations which have no concept of accommodating their clientèle at their website, do a poor job in many other aspects of their business.
Want to fix this? Go over IT's head, go to marketing, when the words “negative impact on market share” get hammered down the line, believe me W3C compliance will become universal.
Unfortunately, these operations will in all probability still suffer from the same previously mentioned short comings.
My current system uptime is approaching 12,000 hours, no reboots, no ad ware, no viruses, no pop ups or banners, no nonsense, it does everything I want and is completely micro soft free! Thanks Mozilla!
