Firefox buttons like a badge

This is a reaction to my own previous post but looking at it from another point of view.

When I see a Firefox button on a site or blog this gets my attention and generally makes me read more of the site or look at the person's profile. What I mean to say is that a Firefox button on a page is like a badge, which says I care about the web and help promote Firefox and obviously it says that when the site was built the owner probably used Firefox and so the site will work well in Firefox.

Put simply, the buttons, (this also applies to other buttons), tell me what a blogger or webmaster cares about, making their function greater than mere download buttons. They are like a badge.

Now of course this doesn't undermine the dynamic banner idea, because if I see a SpreadFirefox banner instead of a Firefox banner the above mentioned effects would still be there.

IE Logo...

And an IE logo is a badge of stupidity :P

Yes

Sort of like a Web bumper sticker? People use badges, stickers and whatever to show what they care about.
