Change Request: Sort Groups by number of subscribers
Posted January 23rd, 2008 by ottodv
There are so many groups now, that the overview is lost.

I think we should list the groups by number of subscribers, so that the most popular ones appear on top, instead of hidden somewhere in pile.

great
i thing this is a good idea, it can also make people more exited about getting people subscibe to there gourp. איסיקיו אנציקלופדיה
Hello ,
Hello ,
I did look into this the other day and it cannot be done at the present time unfortunately with the views module that we use to generate this content .
The reason we can't easily order records by subscribers is that it is not stored in the database like other fields but dynamically generated .
I did find some experimental code on drupal.org that could be patched to the views module and an example of the code that needed to be applied to our organic groups module but it didn't workout.
Hopefully we will be able to order by Subscribers later in the year when we upgrade to drupal 6.0.

Thanks for the feedback
Unfortunate, but good to know that you tried at least.

Good idea
Good idea, before someone create a new project titled "________My Project________" just to make it always appear on top of the list.

Exactly
And additionally it would be nice to have an indication of activity in a forum, like the number of posts in the groups forums (and maybe also the number of posts made during the last week or month).
I still find it hard to navigate the site and find what's interesting. We need cues.
